2nd ASEAN Digital Ministers' Meeting (2nd ADGMIN)

Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar is hosting the Second ASEAN Digital Ministers’ Meeting and Related Meetings with Dialogue Partners on 27th and 28th January, 2022. During the meeting, ministers responsible for telecommunications, ICT and digital economy will be discussing important matters relevant to ICT developments, digital transformation and digital cooperation in the region under the theme “Digital Transformation: the Engine for ASEAN Economic Recovery from COVID-19.” Senior officials of ASEAN and its dialogue partners will also be meeting for the Second ASEAN Digital Senior Officials’ Meeting and Related Meetings with Dialogue Partners prior to the 2nd ADGMIN Meetings from 24th to 26th January.

Previously named ASEAN Telecommunications and ICT Ministers’ Meeting (TELMIN), the ADGMIN is responsible for overseeing the regional ICT and digital cooperation, implementation of the activities under ASEAN Digital Master plan 2025, providing a forum to support in advancing ASEAN economic integration goals as agreed by the AMS Leaders.

Recognizing the role of digital transformation and digitalization in the recovery and strengthening of ASEAN’s economy from the COVID-19 Pandemic and its pivotal roles in reducing the impacts from the pandemic, the 2nd ADGMIN and Related Meetings will be held under the theme Digital Transformation: the Engine for ASEAN Economic Recovery from COVID-19. The Logo of this year’s meeting is the ten ASEAN Member States’ flags intertwined in a close hand-shake loop in the form of Myanmar traditional Chinlone (Cane Ball), depicting unity, solidarity and integrity of ASEAN.

Ministers responsible for the digital sectors from ASEAN Member States and the dialogue partners will attend the meetings. Due to the ongoing outbreak of COVID 19, the five days’ meetings will be organized in full virtual format.

A virtual awarding ceremony for ASEAN ICT Awards 2021 (AICTA 2021) will also be organized at the end of the 2nd ADGMIN Meeting on 28th January, 2022 where the Gold Medalists, Silver Medalists and Bronze Medalists from the six categories of AICTA will be recognized by the ministers.

The meetings will be chaired by Myanmar as the host country and vice-chaired by Philippine as the next host of ADGMIN and related meetings in 2022.
